2010 Draft Comprehensive Plan Map City Council and City staff will be presenting the 2010 Draft Damascus Comprehensive Plan Map to the community this spring, beginning with Coffee Klatches and finalizing with a community wrap-up open house (date forthcoming). 

Over the last four months, the Damascus City Council has been meeting weekly to refine the draft Comprehensive Plan map to better articulate the village concept and respect the rural feel of the community.  The map was created with significant public input and community guidance including the principles embedded in the Core Values. Council is expected to adopt the 2010 Draft Damascus Comprehensive Plan Map this spring with final adoption in November 2010.

Let’s Talk - Host a Coffee Klatch Would you like to host a Coffee Klatch to review and comment on the 2010 Draft Comprehensive Plan Map?  This spring you are invited to host or attend an informal meeting where your neighbors and friends discuss this important effort in an informal setting.  More info.
Comprehensive Plan Map Survey 2010 Please take just a few minutes to respond to this short survey to let us know how you would like to be involved, receive information, and identify any other questions you may have. 
Local Wetlands Inventory The City recently completed its Local Wetlands Inventory (LWI) and sent notifications to property owners that own parcels that contain or abut a wetland, possible wetland or waterway as required by Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 141-86-0240. Interim Urban Forestry Ordinance In December of 2009 City Council adopted Ordinance No. 2009-41 which continued a temporary ban on clear cutting of trees in Damascus. The ordinance is in effect until June 17, 2010.  Currently the City is working with the County Assessor, State Department of Forestry and Oregon Department of Revenue on a DRAFT Urban Forestry Ordinance which will address all aspects of urban forestry within the city.
CERT Volunteers City of Damascus seeks residents interested in becoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers to help their neighborhood during a disaster.  Two courses are coming in April.  More info.
City Hall Drop Site for Battery Recycling The City has provided a convenient drop site for household batteries at City Hall. There is a receptacle available 24 hours a day in front of City Hall. You are encouraged to drop off all AAA, AA, C, D, 2V, 3V, 6V, 9V, 12V-button, 3V-button, or any other household battery. Read full article.

Neighborhood Association Interest Survey Your Committee for Citizen Involvement (CCI) invites Damascus citizens to complete this Neighborhood Association Interest Survey. Your responses will help the City to identify people to train for neighborhood association leadership roles and to determine which neighborhoods will support a neighborhood association. The survey also contains other important information about projected neighborhood associations and ways to contact or get involved with your CCI.  Are you interested in becoming a leader in your neighborhood?  Attend this free training workshop on November 17 to get started.
